There is a new phenomenon first brought to our attention via Instagram called "waist training" have any of you heard of it?
Its modern day corseting with a goal of creating the classic hour glass silhouette, many women lament about loosing weight in every area but their mid section, we asked a few doctors and personal trainers and got very mixed messages.
Most doctors seemed dismayed by the remixed trend noting that certain health problems like bowel obstruction, strained vertebra and skin rashes are likely to occur "The results from the 'waist training" trend are only temporary, no different from the body wraps or cellophane wraps before the nigh out on the town. Post-natal corsets are the only one that may help in some way but supporting the enlarged uterus as it shrinks back down to its normal size. "
While a few personal trainers encouraged them: "...its kind of like a two for one support brace, women get the curvy lines they desire while also getting a weight lifting belt to support their lower back. Im happy to see more women weight training now, if this trend will do nothing else it will at least spark an interest in integrated routines"
Our research produced mixed messages but we would love to hear from any ladies out there who have tried or who are thinking about getting in on the "waist training" trend. We can't wait to hear your stories!
